Well, Jenks Public Schools have decided to close their planetarium after this school year without hearing from the public or students. This is the Best planetarium in 3 states due to Dan's enthusiasm. The cost of its upkeep is much less than what Jenks spends on its sports programs and it serves all grades and the public. Tulsa Metro Renfaire Potential Locations

I can now present the large project I have been working on for a month & a half. I visited 11 parks in the Tulsa Metro area, making videos showing the amenities each would provide in holding a Renfaire in them.

'Tis high time that someone starts a Renfaire around Tulsa again. It is too large of a city not to have a Renfaire. 800,000 people live in the Metro! Catch just 1% of them & have 8,000 people walk through your gates. That would be a very successful starting faire!

English Victory At Agincourt, France This Day 610 Years Ago

The most famous archery battle took place on this day in the Year of Our Lord, 1415 at Agincourt, France. The French outnumbered the English by some say 3 or 4 or more to 1. Yet, the English army was comprised mostly of longbowmen. Those archers decided the outcome of this battle on Saint Crispin's Day. It was a disastrous defeat for the flower of France.

I hate to post sad news but this time I must. The Rampant Rooster, Lary Fowler Bagpiper passed away on Tuesday, May 28th. I met Lary at the Northwest Arkansas Renfest in Fayetteville in 2008. He told me lots about organizing Renfaires. I made 2 trips to the Four Winds Renaissance Faire in Tyler & a trip to the Avalon Faire in Kilgore, TX to hang out with him over the years. He even met me at Sherwood Forest Faire in 2018. He was a good friend, the nicest guy & a heck of a bagpiper.

After 1 of his performances, he told me that he messed up a song pretty badly. I laughed & told him that none of us who don't play the pipes would ever know. That cracked him up.

Faire thee well, Lary! I hope to hear you playin' the pipes in Heaven! Ephesians 2:8-9

I had heard that you can buy half-price tickets for the Oklahoma Renfest at the ticket booth after 3 p.m. Today, I found out that was right. I got tix for $12.50 each so I can much more affordably return to Castleton this spring. Huzzah!

I Got To Fire A Trebuchet!!!

And not just any trebuchet, it was Brigette, Oklahoma's largest trebuchet! The Guthrie Renfest's owner let me shoot it at his wonderful, rapidly-growing event. Grammercy, John Pagonis! The trebuchet crew did the hard part of setting it up. Huzzah to them! I got to do the easy part.

Seeing trebuchets fire was 1 of the 3 main things that got me hooked on Renfests in 2002. If not for them, I may not be doing what I do now. I was living a dream this day!

Good day, Renfaire Owners/Organizers. Here's something to help make your event more successful:

Once your current year's event is over, post the dates for the next year as soon as you can. This helps your performers & vendors know where they will be going the next year. They can plan trips to different events & know if they'll have to travel back home between stops or move from town to town on back-to-back weekends. This can save them lots of money in gas & lodging bills.

It can also help your patrons plan for trips the following year (or 2 seasons away if you do spring & fall events).

Other nearby faire planners may not pick the same dates that you have either, which would split all of the travelers mentioned above.

Looking for that perfect gift for your fairemily member? This book that David H. Leroy mentioned a few months ago would be a good fit under the Christmas tree. It follows the spread of Renfests from California eastward over the 20th century. It also correctly notes on Page 97 that America's 1st Renfest was at Withrow Springs in Arkansas.

It mentions the Norman Medfaire, Sherwood Forest Faire and others around the south-central part of the U.S. Before reading it, I didn't know that Penn & Teller or Jim Belushi had performed at Renfests. This book would be a good way to tide one over until the start of the 2023 faire season in 3 months.

Were you aware that up until 1517, the Christian (Catholic) Church had dozens of rules for people that were listed nowhere in the Bible. Chief among them being that people could “buy their way out of Hell” for the sins that they or their ancestors had committed.

On October 31st, 1517 a monk named Martin Luther challenged the church on 95 different practices by posting them on a church door in Wittenberg, Germany. Although Martin Luther was kicked out of the Catholic Church for this (which was a very light punishment for the time), it led to the formation of Protestant Churches (such as Calvinism and the Lutheran Church) around Europe.

This was very good for the common people of Europe as the Catholic Church was not as nice back then as it is today. It taxed people and controlled their lives much as a malevolent king would. (It still tells people to confess their sins to a priest instead of straight to Jesus, which is totally unnecessary.)

The scores or even hundreds of denominations we have today are the result of Martin Luther’s Reformation of the church.

Hobbit Culture In Tulsa, Sept. 24th

Here's a return of a celebration that Tulsa hasn't had in 3 years: On Saturday, September 24th, the City-County Library will host not 1 but 2 Hobbit events.

The 1st will be from 10 am - 1 pm in the Central Library in downtown.

The 2nd will be from 2 - 3 pm at the Zarrow Library just north of I-44 near Union Avenue on the west side of town.

"Henry V" Comes Highly Recommended

I just watched the 1989 version of "Henry V". What an amazing movie! It centers on the Battle of Agincourt between the English and the French (Huzzah for the archers!).

It took a bit to be able to understand Shakespearean English but once I got the hang of it, the movie flowed very well. I enjoyed the introduction of the characters (one familiar from "Flash Gordon" and the female "M" from James Bond movies), the lead-up to the battle, the addressing of the traitors and the conversations with the French herald.

There should have been more archery involved in the battle but I know the background of that. The final scene with Henry's rapid courtship of Catherine was both funny and sincere.

All told, I would give it a 9 out of 10. I highly recommend it as it is much better than many movies I have seen in the past 3 years.

The Battle Of Crecy, France ~ A Win For English Archers

This spring at Queensferry Renfest, I stepped out of my normal picture-taking and faire-promoting routine and put on an archery show. I was inspired to do so by archers Kevin Hicks , Phil Johnston , Makoa Johnston and David Ruff.

I slipped up a couple of times but I was rotating through 3 stories that weekend about the battles of Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt so my material wouldn't get old to the listeners. The numbers in the battles also change from source to source so, who knows? The point is that these battles were won despite overwhelming odds mainly due to the English Longbowmen. Huzzah!

It's a bit hard to hear due to the wind but Closed Captioning helps a little. Unfortunately, YouTube translators don't interpret my "put on" English accent 100%. I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Who Can Help Unprofitable Renfaires?

Is there anyone in the Renfaire world that is like Marcus Lemonis (The Profit) or Robert Irvine (Restaurant Impossible)? Someone who can advise smaller or new Renfaires on what to change to become profitable in their 2nd or 1st year?

This person would need experience in starting faires, coordinating finances, finding sponsors, choosing grounds, showing how to lay out a village, picking the right kind of performers, not getting too many of the same kinds of vendors, charging the right amount to get in & of course pursuing the right kind of ADVERTISING.

I’m sure this person would want a fee or would want to invest in the faire & get a percentage of the profits. He or she would have to be able to travel around their region or country, be available for monthly meetings (via Zoom if it’s far from home) and be able to keep the board on course.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

The Archer's Battle: Agincourt

Attention archers, lovers of history and Renaissance Faires: Here is a "first person's" story of the battle of Agincourt in 1415 when the vastly outnumbered English beat the French soundly. The battle relied heavily on the archers.

The storyteller is one of the best archers I've ever seen. Kevin Hicks used to portray Robin Hood in the real Sherwood Forest and spent years relaying history and shooting a longbow at Warwick Castle in England.

Convenient Faire Advertising Tip

Here's an advertising tip for Renfaire Organizers: It's getting to be that time of year. If you want to get exposure to non-Rennies, enter a troupe and/or float in some nearby Christmas parades. This would be more helpful, I imagine, for those who hold faires in the springtime but some people have long memories.

If you have a presence of different types of personas, you would appeal to more kinds of people. I guess pirates celebrate Christmas. I'm sure that Crusading knights do. Some archers do for sure. Do you have a flute or guitar player that can play carols?

You could also hand out flyers along the parade route. Don't bother with business cards. People stick them in their wallet then a drawer somewhere for a few years. Patrons need something to take up some bulk in their pocket or purse.

This will give you a good excuse to garb up. Huzzah!

The other day I was watching a video when the host said that he was at one of the nation's 35 Renfests. Actually, there are almost 250 in a normal year from coast to coast and in Canada. There are also close to 150 Scottish and Celtic events. Some heavily-populated states have over two dozen events.

Did you know that Oklahoma has almost 20 such events within its borders? If you were to see any of these or travel to a state that touches ours, you could experience about 75 Renaissance, Celtic, Medieval, Scottish or Viking celebrations.

I was looking for motivational videos to guide me to improve my volleyball game when I can start playing again next year since my shoulder will be fully healed by January.

I ran across this one which spoke to me about missed opportunities that we don't even think about. I'm going to start an archery show next year. I'm even more invigorated to do it now. The part that really struck me was how our dreams that we don't follow die when we die. I'm also beginning to plan what I'm going to do when I retire.

If you have dreams that you are afraid to follow, take the leap and follow them! Don't regret not trying things b/c others say that you can't do them. In the end, WE are the ones who decide what we can do.

A Fitting Tribute Song

The duo Ezndil played with Jesse Linder many times at Renfaires across the country, most recently at the Oklahoma Renfest in 2019. This year, they paid a tribute to him by playing his song "Crescent Moon". I believe that they have done a wonderful job.

Jesse Linder traveled across the country singing at Renfaires in California, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, his home faire of Bristol and many more. He was a part of the group Three Pints Gone before he went solo. Although he wouldn't have admitted it, he was kind of "a big deal" on the Ren Circuit. Most of us Okies just didn't know it when he played his only year at Castleton in 2019 since he was new here. Sadly, he departed this world last summer due to kidney problems. I'm sure he is bringing great joy now with the choirs in Heaven.

I lost my Dad when I was only 26 years old. That motivated me to make sure I exercise 4 times a week and try to eat somewhat healthy. In the past 5 years, I've lost 8 friends and some acquaintances, some of them younger than me, due to health reasons.

As a somewhat selfish request, if there are any areas of concern you have for your health, please get checked by a doctor. There are plenty of ways to get into better health, some as easy as going for walks. A visit to the doc before starting any exercise program is a good idea.

By taking care of yourselves, you can continue to enjoy going to faires and being with the fun people in your lives. There are tons of people who want you to stick around from friends to family to fairemily.

OK Renfest 2021 News

I hope that you can survive the sticker shock of paying $26 at the gate to get into the OK Renfest this year (a 50% increase from the last time they were open). KCRF doesn't charge that much. Go to Avalon Faire in northeast Texas this spring for a better price ($15), comparable size, vendors and entertainment. I won't be able to afford to attend OKRF as much now.

If you do go to Muskogee, visit Boars Head Leather just past the souvenir shop at the entrance. They are good people!

Speaking of good people, EZNDIL have moved to the Hidden Grove Stage down the hill from the back side of the jousting arena.

Gary Bennett is now carving stones at the high end of the blacksmiths. McNoodle's Craft Emporium is near the archery booth where Faerie Books used to be.

There are many accents to choose from: English, pirate, French, Scottish, gypsy, a Spaniard's and more. Do you have a favorite character in a show that you can mimic? Give it a shot. It can make your faire experience even funner.

Good day. Today thru Sunday, the Norman Medieval Faire will be happening VIRTUALLY. There will actually be some food trucks at Reeves Park.

You can find their events for each day via FB. While you listen to or watch the performances, you can shop from vendors listed on the Renaissance Performers And Merchants FB page and the Faire Relief FB page. There's a list of vendors from my website below as well.

Some virtual faires have been going on but they don't help vendors much at all. There are scores of live faires coming back in 2021 so if there's something you need for your garb, a cute dragon or new mug, you can order them now to be able to show them off when you get to your next faire. For all of those planning to go ahead with your Renaissance Festivals this year, don't be discouraged. The Quad Cities Renfest was held last weekend in Davenport, Iowa. I have it on good authority that it was gang-busters! I heard of vendors making lots of money.

This shows that there is still a demand for people to be able to escape from all of the craziness going on this year. Also, people have some money to spend at faires. The show must go on so don't be surprised if you get larger than normal crowds this year at the events that do happen. Huzzah!

I have not heard of any major illness outbreaks in Kentucky this summer, Iowa the past few weeks with its faires or Saint Louis with its big Renfest. Keep calm and faire on.

Here's a letter I was asked to post about the only Medieval Faire that WILL HAPPEN in Oklahoma in 2020. It's filled with the heart and soul that many of us feel about this frustrating year. Won't you patrons, performers and vendors join us in Glenpool the first weekend of November, even if for just this one time? It could be epic!

Hi - my name is Tina Nettles, and I have a friend who runs a Medieval Faire in Glenpool (formerly Kiefer) every year. I’m not in any way a legal representative of the King’s Medieval Faire nor am I employed by them. I’m just a friend of the owner / manager of it. But I wanted to reach out to you and all the other canceled faires and events from 2020 to suggest an idea.

I don’t want to step on toes. I don’t want to try to steal YOUR acts, vendors, or employees away from YOUR FAIRES and FESTIVALS I’m not in any way an official contact. Please understand this.

During the summer, the Tulsa City County Library couldn’t hold its usual in-person summer reading program events for kids. So I volunteered late this spring to produce 26 short videos and interviews with ren-faire / med-faire musicians, artisans, and other entertainers for the library to release each week on their website, so kids would still have fun and entertaining things to look forward to all summer, attending a “virtual” faire.

Do you know what I found out during that time? These faire entertainers and craftsmen are HURTING this year. I’m guessing that you are too. Sales are WAY down while there are no live, in-person events, and without the energy that comes from meeting patrons face to face at faires.

Ancient arts aren’t being practiced, as the practicers of these arts are working mundane jobs instead. Everyone’s a little sad, not to get to see old friends every month or two on the faire circuit. Everyone’s a little worried about what the future looks like for festivals of all sorts.

So I have a little bit of good news. As of right now, my friend says that Glenpool has not canceled the King’s Medieval Faire, the first weekend in November. To my knowledge it’s the only medieval / renaissance faire to go on as planned in Northeast Oklahoma, in the entirety of 2020. She’s still accepting applications from vendors, people eager to get out of their houses, garb-up, and have a faire.

I know there’s nothing in the budget right now to pay for a bunch of extra acts, but I suspect that if you are a comedy act, a musical act, a jousting act, swordsmen, pirates, bellydancers, vikings, fairies, mermaids, falconers, harpists, dancers… or any kind of renaissance performer whatsoever, and you wanted to get on the schedule for November, to just dust of your garb, to bring an instrument, sell some beautiful things you make, you’d be welcome.

This could be historic. The ONLY medieval / renaissance faire in all of 2020 in this area. The ONLY one. Even if you wanted to just come as a patron, you are welcome. Please, let’s get together and just enjoy doing what we do.

We’ll get through this together. It’s been said a million times, but it’s true. Let’s not let all of 2020 be stolen from us. It’s time for a little joy and revelry, don’t you think?

The Magna Carta's Grandchild

On June 15th, 1215, the Magna Carta was signed into law by England’s King John. It was imposed on the king by dozens of his feudal barons. They had become tired of his high taxes in the absence of his brother, Richard the Lionheart, who was away fighting in the Crusades. This Great Charter placed limits on the king and expanded freedom for his subjects. Does this sound familiar? The Magna Carta was a partial basis for the United States Constitution over 500 years later.

After three months, King John declared the Magna Carta void. However, he died a year later and it was once again placed into effect. Its scores of clauses granted rights and freedoms to everyone in England. Many are still enjoyed today. You can see a part of its story in the 2010 movie “Robin Hood” starring Russell Crowe. The Renaissance Is Coming

I ran across a post in the renaissancefestival.com forums that had an inspiring positive remark at the end. While it was a 2020 cancellation notice, the BubbleWright ended saying "Remember that after the plague comes the Renaissance!"

That was very uplifting to me. I can't believe how quickly half of this dreadful year has already passed. However, we're just 7 months away from the prospect of 2021 faires, let alone the fall season of many of these wonderful events returnin g.

Faire-wise, this year has been the pits! I don't know how I made it without my routine escapes from the Rat Race, let alone all of the bad news. I got to dress up a few times for videos, made a new archery target stand, am working on a new target, bought some outstanding cd's from Jesse Linder and got a new quiver as well.

I feel deeply sorry for the performers and vendors who have been deeply affected by a lack of venues to frequent. I've been praying for that group and the other patrons who have been missing out on our special world.

However, the tide will turn back in our favor. We'll get back to seeing our fairemilies sooner than it seems and we will appreciate our faires even more. When our faires approach, it will be a great time to advertise to those who have never made it to a Renfaire so they can forget about all the crazy goings on of the modern world.

Good times will be had by all; for the Renaissance is coming! Huzzah!

Explore New Options If Your Planned Faire Cancels This Spring ~ Keep Calm

If a faire you've planned to go to, vend at or perform at this spring has been canceled (like the Norman Medfaire), please check the surrounding areas for other options.

I just got word from Grim, the Vendor Coordinator at the Avalon Faire in Kilgore, Texas. Vendors can contact him to see what they can work out about setting up at their expanding site next month.

I went to Avalon a few years ago and loved it! I'm going to try to make it back this spring.

There are also other events in Texas (Sherwood Forest Faire which is worth the drive, and Scarborough Faire) this spring. Vinita, OK will have 2 different events on back-to-back weekends this month as well. The Heavener (OK) Runestone Fest is still on next month as well. You can find info on them and Wichita's Great Plains Renfest on the Midwest Faires Page on this site.

This weekend marks the end of the Renfaire season north of Texas. There are 3 options to wrap things up with fun and excitement.

Today, tomorrow and Sunday, the King's Medfaire will be open at 10 a.m. in Glenpool, Oklahoma. It's brought to you by the gang who ran the Kiefer Medfaire the last 3 years.

Tomorrow only, you can visit the new Immanuel Lutheran's Reformation Renfaire in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will have a huge Kid's Area, 8' firing trebuchet, hilarious comedy act, archery tournament and more.

Saturday and Sunday, the Hot Springs (Arkansas) Renfaire will also host its inaugural event. Many great people are putting it together, including alumni from the recent Renfaires in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

New Stroud (OK) Medfest~Sept 7th

HUZZAH! There will be a new Medieval Festival in Stroud, Oklahoma next Saturday! It will run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. It is not at the site of the old King Arthur Faire. It will be in a park in the city. I'm very excited to get a jump on the fall faire season.

Better Faire Organizing

Good day. I’m a big volleyball nut. I love playing the sport indoors and out. I got into the sport later than most people so I’m trying to learn all I can to keep up with players that are half my age or less.

I’ve been watching a coaches’ instructional video by Karch Kiraly. He was the Michael Jordan of volleyball before he retired. Now he coaches the women’s UCLA team. He was mentioning some of the attributes of elite athletes that have been found by studies. He said most elite athletes aren’t always watching the ball. They watch how the other team is setting up and preparing to hit the ball. They have telltale hints they give over time to do certain things.

Those of us who help organize Renfaires can do the same things. When we go to long-lived, successful faires, we can observe how tickets are sold, patrons’ questions are answered, how the events are laid out for stages, vendors, food areas, etc. We can also ask other organizers how they overcame growing pains, picked their sites, found sponsors (that’s the biggie), created their budgets, advertised (another biggie), treat their performers, vendors and patrons and much more.

There are resources out there to find these things. YouTube videos, conversations on Facebook at the Vendor/ Page, in the Forums at renaissancefestival.com and other places.

Maybe some organizers would like to meet somewhere or meet online to discuss these aspects sometime. You can find who the organizers are by sending e-mails to faires’ sites and FB pages. We are one big community. We will can bigger and stronger if we share ideas.

Immuel Lutheran's Reformation Renfaire

Good day. Early last fall, a school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma let me know that they were interested in expanding their annual Reformation Fair. They had heard that I visit a lot of Renaissance Faires and wanted to know if I could help advise them. I posted about the situation before I was able to arrange a meeting with their planners.

Their planners are some VERY busy teachers and I didn’t get a reply about a meeting for several months so I thought that I wouldn’t be needed. In the past few months though, the teachers’ schedules loosened up and we have had some meetings. So, in short, I’d like to announce the Immanuel Lutheran’s Reformation Renaissance Faire !

Due to other events at the school, it will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. However, the date in 2020 will be on October 24th. For all of you who are committed to the Hot Springs (AR) Medfaire or the King’s Medfaire in Glenpool (OK) this year, we would love to see you in 2020! This year, you could visit ILRRF and/or 1 of these Medfaires (or all 3 if you like driving).

There will be a free admission craft fair going on inside the school/church at the same time the Renfaire is going on outside. The Renfaire will be free for kids 10 & under or $5 for all over the age of 10. Most of the entertainment is already lined up but we will be taking vendor applications and perhaps a few performers who would work for tips and to sell cd’s, t-shirts, etc. The average attendance of the existing craft fair is about 800 people each year.

There should be plenty of fun things for kids and adults to do all day including archery and working trebuchets! This event will be held on church grounds so I’d appreciate it if you will tell me if I’m misbehaving that day. HUZZAH!

Good day. If you have not heard, the Grand Lake Renaissance Festival will be back on March 29 - 30, 20 20 . In the meantime, the Queensferry Renaissance Festival will happen on the same site in Vinita, OK on March 30 - 31, 20 19 .

Great vendors, performers, Queen Margaret (Mayhaps Castleton's best queen?) and a great crew. What else could a patron ask for? Huzzah!

We Are Fortunate

We are fortunate, you and I, to live where we do. Living in this country means that we can travel easily from town to town and state to state to visit the events we enjoy. Our roads are for the most part usable. Some of us are able to visit faires and festivals in other parts of the country by flying to them or having extra time while we are on a trip. Many of us are lucky to have relatives living nearby these events we get to stay with so we can spend money at these faires instead of for a motel.

This Renaissance/Medieval/Scottish/Irish/Viking/Celtic/Fairy passion within us allows us to dress out of the ordinary from most people we see. We get to talk with accents that some can understand and appreciate. We have learned songs that most do not hear. We have a wonderful inside track to appreciating life and not being caught up in the stresses of the Rat Race.

Our gate fees really are a bargain. It costs $8 - $12 or more for a two hour movie now. That amount can get a person into a lot of all-day festivals with many types of entertainment. One can immerse themselves in several different cultures in different parts of the faire instead of being exposed to just what is on a big screen.

The effects of attending a faire are fortunately, long-lasting. Back in the mundane world, hearing a faire song, seeing some faire character's picture, running into a faire friend or visiting via the intrawebs can bring back many fond memories. It can also help us get through long days as we know we'll be returning to fun times at a faire soon.

Being away from faire during the coldest or hottest months can give us not just a time to yearn to return to them or just appreciate them. It gives us time to work on our accents or learn new faire words that have fallen out of use. We can practice shooting our bows, singing new songs, work on our fencing skills or build new products to sell.

To further our involvement in this passion of ours, this year, we can bring friends or family who have never attended before and watch them "light up" at what goes on around them. We can find something to do where we can set up our own tent. We can get involved in putting on a nearby faire. We can tip performers a little more. We can belt out more "Huzzahs". We can dress up. We can also speak with an accent we haven't tried before.

Let us not take these events for granted. They are our history, movies and television shows that we help make come to life. They make up part of who we are and how we are known. We create and remember wonderful stories at them. Let's do our best to make 2019 a more remarkable year in this world that many don't get to enjoy (yet).

Increase Faire Attendee Numbers By...

Faire owners/organizers, here's a way to increase your patron numbers: invite nearby National Guard or Reserve units to your event. Give them a discount at the gate and encourage them to bring their families.

There was a large group in uniform one day when I was visiting the 4 Winds Faire about 10 years ago in Tyler, Texas.

2019 Dragonfest (MO) Date Confirmed

There is an official date for Springfield, Missouri's Dragonfest this fall. It is October 19th. There were 4,000 patrons there last year for the one-day event. Now is your chance to apply, vendors and performers. There were only a few singing groups besides the jousters for entertainment last year.

What A Few People Can Do Is Amazing

What's the most important thing that makes a faire successful? People. Of course you need patrons, performers, vendors and a faire board but you also need volunteers and workers.

Volunteers and workers get lots of the light and heavy lifting done. Workers are essential to faires. I have met many of these wonderful people. They deserve tons of gratitude and tons of company!

If you want your nearby faire to keep being successful, if you want to be part of something bigger, if you want to keep bringing joy to patrons, if you want a months-long feeling of faire, if you want to be on the inside track, contact the faire owners and let them know you want to help.

It's the beginning of a new year. Now is the time to gather some friends and decide to help bring a taste of the Renaissance to the public. You will be most welcome and most appreciated!

No Faire Coming From The Craigmeister

I saw many great friends, vendors and performers today at the Heavener Viking Festival.

I would like to dispel a rumor I may have inadvertently started about myself. I recently told a few people that I was going to talk to a school in the Tulsa area about expanding their Reformation Fair at the end of October. I sent a message to the school's committee about doing so but I did not receive a response.

I am happy to contribute a little to the Kiefer Medfaire and had fun being on the King's Champion Medfaire that Tulsa had 8 - 10 years ago.

I have no plans about starting a faire of my own. I have plenty going on in my life with my website, regular job, family activities and trying to stay in shape. I am quite content in pointing people to faires across the country. To all of you who run faires, Godspeed to you! Keep up the good, hard work!
